Farm life

A bald eagle pair landed not far from the house along with a number of vultures near the road.  Here the eagles have taken to flight together and are rising.  Eventually they caught an updraft to the southwest and just fixed their wings and soared higher and higher.

A great horned owl landed at the top of a large pine tree in our backyard one evening at late dusk.  I was able to capture a silhouette.  The ears on his head are clear.  We also spotted him late one afternoon in daylight flying several times along the stream and road ahead of us as we were walking.

The tall autumn sedum attracts bees, butterflies and other insects in large numbers.
